WORLD CANCER DAY
.
According to the World Health Organization, in 2020 nearly 20 million new cases of cancer were registered worldwide.
.
The aim of World Cancer Day is to demystify some of the preconceived ideas about cancer and to report on the real facts of the disease.
.
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the world. Every year, about 8 million people die from cancer and it is estimated that the disease is responsible for more than 84 million deaths between 2005 and 2015.
.
Cancer accounts for more deaths worldwide than HIV / AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria combined. Of the 7.6 million cancer deaths in the world in 2008, more than 55% occurred in less developed regions. In 2030, it is estimated that 60 to 70% of the 21.4 million new cases of cancer will occur in developing countries.
.
According to the World Health Organization, about 40% of all cancers can be prevented and others can be detected at an early stage of their development, treated and cured.
.
It is estimated that the number of cancer cases and related deaths worldwide will double in the next 20 to 40 years, especially in developing countries.
