How we perceive and respond to events and challenges in our lives matters for our happiness and health. If you’re looking to become more optimistic, you can retrain your brain to think more positively. You can prime your brain to be more optimistic!

3 Ways You Can Train Your Brain to Be Positive:

.

Challenge Negative Thoughts. Whenever you have a distorted thought, stop and evaluate whether it is accurate. Ask yourself: What thinking errors am I making? What's the alternative explanation for this thought? Am I confusing thought with a fact?

.

Keep a daily journal of positive experiences or gratitude journal. Pessimistic minds focus on what goes wrong. By journaling and being grateful, you train your brain to notice positive experiences.

Practice mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present in each moment with a receptive, curious, and open attitude towards the experience you’re having at the moment. Mindfulness increases positive emotions and reduces negative emotions, as well as stress.
